To: jobs at ccl.net Date: Mon Aug 4 20:43:05 2008 Subject: 08.08.04 Computational Scientist/Software Developer, Caltech, CA Computational Scientist/Software Developer Position: A research fellow position is available at Caltech in the DANSE project to develop data analysis software for neutron scattering experiments. The person in this position will pursue the science of inelastic scattering studies of atomic vibrations in materials, and develop computational tools to do this science. Responsibilities: As a computational scientist, the research fellow will pursue scientific research at the interface between inelastic scattering experiments and computational science. This work should leverage the new capabilities in computational science that are developed in the DANSE project, and utilize the inelastic neutron scattering facilities in the U.S. at the SNS. As a software developer, the employee will adapt solid-state electronic structure packages to calculate phonons and inelastic scattering. Qualifications: A Ph.D. in physical sciences such as chemistry, physics, materials science, or engineering, with some experience in object-oriented software development.
