The Institute

Biomanufacturing Research Institute and Technology Enterprise (The BRITE Institute),
a newly established Institute, will provide research and training for
undergraduates and graduate students in areas critical to biotechnology
and biomanufacturing. BRITE is located at North Carolina Central University (NCCU),
North Carolina, less than two miles from the Research Triangle Park. As
one component of the North Carolina State Initiatives, the BRITE Institute
will prepare students with the scientific competence in working at
biomanufacturing R&D and biotechnology industry. Currently, BRITE has
drug discovery core (HTS, chemistry, cheminformatics etc.) and
drug manufacturing core in its programs.

The Opportunity

We are looking for candidates for postdoctoral positions who will
participate in the development and application of computational tools to
the design and discovery of molecules as drugs or chemical probes.
The successful candidate will have a Ph.D. degree or equivalent in
computational sciences (chemistry, physics, computer or information
sciences, operations research, engineering etc.). Must have a strong
programming background (e.g., C/C++, perl, python) and interests in molecular
sciences. An understanding of ligand-based and structure-based design
methods as well as the knowledge of Tripos, OpenEye and MOE packages are
